AMD Adrenalin 26.9.1 Driver Adds Game Support, Fixes Crashes
AMD's optional 26.9.1 driver adds support for Onimusha: Way of the Sword and The Blood of Dawnwalker. It fixes intermittent crashes in Starfield and Apex Legends for RX 9000-series cards but introduces several known issues, including Smart Access Memory being disabled on Windows 10, AI Bundle installation problems in some regions, and a status display bug for Anti-Lag 2 in Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. It also includes an advisory for Cyberpunk 2077 players on the RX 9050 4GB model.

AMD has released AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.9.1 as an optional driver for supported Radeon graphics products. The update adds support for Onimusha: Way of the Sword and The Blood of Dawnwalker while addressing intermittent crashes in Starfield and Apex Legends on Radeon RX 9000-series graphics cards.
AMD does not claim performance improvements for the two newly supported titles, and the release notes contain no benchmark comparisons. The update instead appears to supply the required game profiles, compatibility changes and initial driver-level support. The only explicitly resolved problem is the intermittent crashing experienced by some RX 9000-series users in Starfield and Apex Legends.
Known Issues and Compatibility
Several issues remain open. On Windows 10, Smart Access Memory may become disabled after the new driver is installed. Users with compatible Ryzen and Radeon configurations should therefore check the feature’s status once installation is complete. AMD has not supplied a dedicated workaround beyond confirming the problem in its release notes.
In Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, AMD Software may show Anti-Lag 2 as inactive after Frame Generation has been turned off. The notes do not establish whether this is limited to an incorrect status indicator or affects the operation of Anti-Lag 2 itself.
AMD has also identified an installation problem involving its AI Bundle. Individual components may fail to install in regions where access to GitHub or Hugging Face is limited. This restriction concerns the availability of external resources used during installation rather than general Radeon driver installation.
Cyberpunk 2077 users running the game on a Radeon RX 9050 4GB may encounter problems related to graphics-memory capacity. The game recommends at least 6GB of video memory, while the RX 9050 model in question provides 4GB. AMD advises users to reduce or disable graphics-intensive features when problems occur.
Hardware Support and Limitations
The driver supports desktop Radeon RX products ranging from the RX 5000 series through the RX 9000 series. Selected Radeon Pro workstation models, Radeon AI Pro accelerators and mobile Radeon GPUs are supported as well.
AMD describes the notebook package as a reference driver, meaning that features customized by a laptop manufacturer may receive limited support. OEM-supplied drivers remain the recommended option when device-specific compatibility is required.
Handheld gaming devices are excluded from this release and should use drivers provided by their manufacturers. Apple Boot Camp systems are also unsupported by the package. Windows compatibility covers Windows 11 version 21H2 and newer, plus 64-bit Windows 10 version 21H2 and newer.
The driver is available now as an optional download from AMD's website.
