Razer announced the Razer Prio, an ultra-mobile foldable USB-C gaming controller for iPhone and Android, on Tuesday, September 1st, 2026. The device is engineered to turn daily downtime into console-grade gaming sessions with a form factor that fits in any pocket.

According to the company, the Prio is the first in a new line of ultraportable mobile gaming controllers. Travis Furst, Head of AI Hardware and Console Division at Razer, stated the goal was to erase tradeoffs between portability and precision. "It folds down to the size of a credit card, but the moment it opens, it plays like a full controller," Furst said.

Portability and Design

The controller is crafted for ultimate portability. Its folding mechanism is designed to slide out of a pocket and twist open in one motion. When folded, it is about the size of a credit card and weighs just 101 grams. It opens into a full-sized controller that can accommodate phones with screens up to 7 inches, including models like the iPhone 17 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Control and Performance Features

The Prio features a complete console-grade control layout. This includes low-profile thumbsticks, a tactile 4-way D-pad, face buttons, bumpers, and triggers. A key innovation, according to Razer, is the use of precise capacitive analog thumbsticks engineered to reduce drift.

This is a first for a Razer controller. The contactless capacitive sensing reads movement at high resolution without physical contacts that can wear down. Razer claims this keeps aim sharp and steady, even during a bumpy commute.

The controller connects via USB-C for a plug-and-play experience with no pairing or separate battery required. Razer states this provides seamless, low-latency response. The design is also flexible enough to fit most slim to medium phone cases, allowing gamers to play without removing their case.

The face buttons are described as silent and tactile, providing clean, responsive feedback meant for discreet use in public spaces like buses or waiting rooms.

Compatibility and Software

Razer states the Prio supports both iPhone, requiring iOS 18, and Android, requiring Android 14 or later. It works for both local play on the device and for game streaming services.

Supported streaming platforms include Xbox Cloud Gaming, Steam Link, PS Remote Play, and Razer's own PC Remote Play via the Razer Cortex Mobile and PC apps. A dedicated button on the controller opens the user's game library in the Razer Cortex Mobile app with a single tap.

The process involves opening Razer Cortex Mobile, linking it to Razer Cortex on a PC, and then playing PC titles on the mobile device. The controller is positioned as a tool to unlock adventure anywhere, turning idle moments into gaming sessions.
