Razer has launched a $100 wired gaming headset that integrates physical haptic feedback technology. The Kraken V4 X Sensa HD Haptics Edition is now the cheapest way to access the Sensa HD Haptics system, which is already supported in more than 100 PC titles.

This marks a significant shift for Razer's haptic technology, which was previously reserved for premium products like a $400 headset, a haptic cushion, and a specialty controller. The new Kraken model aims to bring that immersive, physical sensation to a much wider audience of PC gamers.

Haptic Feedback Modes

The headset's Sensa HD Haptics technology operates through two distinct modes designed to translate in-game audio into physical sensations. In Dynamic Haptics mode, games with native support provide scripted feedback directly linked to specific in-game events like weapon fire, ability use, and character movement.

Audio-to-Haptics (A2H) mode works in the background on games for which Razer has created a profile, adding an extra layer of feedback on top of the primary Dynamic Haptics. Razer states the complex technology is engineered to respond to the intensity, duration, and positional data of sound effects, meaning a distant explosion should feel different from a point-blank gunshot.

"In supported titles, every weapon, every ability, every moment of tension carries its own feedback," Razer said.

Supported Games and Audio Features

The haptic system is integrated into a library of over 100 PC games. Notable supported titles include Battlefield 6, the Silent Hill 2 remake, Marvel Rivals, and 007 First Light.

Beyond haptics, the headset is equipped with Razer's TriForce 40 mm drivers, which are designed to individually tune high, mid, and low frequencies. It also supports virtual 7.1 surround sound and includes a HyperClear Cardioid Mic that the company says can eliminate unwanted background noise during voice chats.

Design and Availability

Following modern gaming peripheral trends, the headset features Razer's Chroma RGB lighting engine. This system offers dynamic, customizable lighting effects across 16.8 million colors.

The Razer Kraken V4 X Sensa HD Haptics Edition is available for purchase now from Razer's own store and third-party retailers like Amazon. Its manufacturer's suggested retail price is set at $100.
